Denise Valentine served on the DeSoto City Council from 2007 to 2013 and Mayor Pro Tem from 2012 to 2013. She was also President of DeSoto Dining and Dialogue, a member of the DeSoto Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Domestic Violence Commissioner, and Chair of the Planning and Zoning Committee. After 27 years with Southwestern Bell and AT&T, she retired and then owned and operated Niecy’s Naturals for 15 years. This wife and mother attended Texas A&I University and she has won numerous awards, including the Bobby Waddle Citizen of the Year Award and the Curtistene McCowan Citizenship Award. In 2017, the City of DeSoto proclaimed December 19, as Denise Valentine Day.
