
Robert James Bumphus, born on October 5, 1946, in the heart of Texas, departed this life peacefully on May 14, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of sweet memories and cherished moments that will linger in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Robert was a man whose personality shone brightly in every room he entered. With a contagious smile and a great sense of humor, he had an extraordinary ability to lighten the mood with jokes, often playfully teasing his son. He was not only known for his loving nature but also for being a hard-working provider and a devoted husband. His dedication to his family was unwavering, and he cared deeply for his loved ones.
Robert proudly worked as a plumber for over 30 years, serving the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex with skill, dedication, and integrity. His strong work ethic and commitment to his craft were admired by many. Outside of work, he was a guiding light to his family—serving as a great mentor to his grandchildren and a surrogate father to several of them. His wisdom, support, and unconditional love shaped lives in ways that will be felt for generations.
In his leisure, Robert found joy in a variety of hobbies and interests. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Cowboys, often seen cheering for his teams with unyielding enthusiasm. In addition to sports, Robert enjoyed playing chess and participating in various physical activities, including tennis, basketball, and football. He also had a passion for collecting coins and had a fondness for fishing, which provided him a peaceful respite and a chance to connect with nature.
Robert’s life will be celebrated through several services. A visitation will be held on May 28, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, located at 4155 South R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75224. Following this, a prayer service will take place on the same day at 7:15 PM, concluding at 8:15 PM at the same location. Robert’s funeral service will occur the next day, May 29, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM and ending at 2:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home.
Robert James Bumphus will be remembered not just for his many interests and achievements, but also for the love he shared with his family and friends. His sweet spirit and joyful laughter will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
