Mrs. Josephine Dorsey Winston (APRIL 4, 1944 – SEPTEMBER 1, 2023)

Josephine Dorsey- Winston, affectionately known as “Jo”, was born on April 4, 1944, to Hurtis and Nancy Powell in Gerden, Arkansas. She departed this life on September 1, 2023 in Lewisville, TX.

To know Jo, was to love Jo. She was a classy, intelligent woman. She would dress beautifully and she had a smile that would light up a room. Jo’s warm and outgoing personality, generous spirit, and selflessness was evidenced by all those who knew her. She was also great at providing direction, support, and encouragement.

Jo’s life was a shining example of dedication and service to the Lord. She was an active member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Lewisville, TX. Jo volunteered her time by participating in an Outreach Group: Our Daily Bread. Our Daily Bread focuses on caring for the homeless and others in the community who may need additional love to get through tough times. To serve and love others is how she lived until her last days.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents Hurtis and Nancy Powell, brothers Willie and Jerome Powell, first husband Clarence Dorsey, second husband Robert Winston, brother-in-law Charles R. Ware, Sr., sister-in-law Louise Powell; and a host of many other loved ones whom Jo considered family and friends.

Jo will be missed tremendously by all of her family. She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Clarence (Mandy) Dorsey of Flower Mound, TX; one daughter, Terri (Ivan) McEachin of McKinney, TX; one sister, Teresa Ware of Omaha, NE; Grandkids: TyruneDorsey and Ty Manning & Ava and Ella Washington. One aunt: Fayrene Pace of Camden, AR. One great- grandson Tyrune Jr. Nephews: Ronnie Powell of Omaha, NE, Dennis (Deborah) Powell Sr. of Kansas City, MO., Charles Ware Jr. and Chazz (Ramona) Ware of Omaha, NE; Nieces: Tammy Thomas of Houston, TX, Anita (Joe Louis) Bean of Kansas City, MO; and Amari Ware of Omaha, NE; Great-niece: Charlee Ware of Omaha, NE; and a host of many other relatives, cousins, and friends.
