Faye Dorris Mitchell was born in Fort Worth, Texas on April 8th, 1941 to Anton Lightfoot of Elsmore, Ok and Doris Foreman of Marshall, Texas. As a result of her faith, she accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School and served as a member of the marching band playing the flute and as a  majorette.

Faye worked many years in the accounting department for companies such Equitable Insurance and Overseas Motors of Dallas, Texas. She married at an early age and has 3 sons and 3 daughters. Faye was an avid lover of sports and enjoyed watching football and was a high Cowboy fan. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with her children and grandchildren. She was charismatic and inspiring. She was the life of the every family gathering that she attended. She loved helping people most of all and offering wisdom into everyone she met. We will always remember her telling us at an early age that success doesn’t come without setback, which is something we’ve cherished to this day.

Faye departed this life on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Her family that precedes her in death are her daughter, Angela Mitchell; son, Myron Mitchell; grandson Jarmarr Thompson; her father Anton Lightfoot; mother, Doris Lightfoot; five brothers; Horace Lightfoot, Don Lightfoot, Charles Lightfoot, Terry Lightfoot, and Kim Lightfoot; two sisters Gwendolyn Sears and LaVerne Lightfoot.

Left to cherish her memories: her four children: Michael Mitchell (Yvette), Priscilla Thompson, Thedious Mitchell (Lisa), and Carla Holmes (Carl); nine grandchildren, fifteen grandchildren, one great great grandchild, sister, Beverly Johnson (Billy) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
