Another election day come and gone.
Somebody has to win. Somebody has to lose.
Sadly, I’ve already heard some saying, “If I would have, could have, or should have.”
You see, winning looks easy when someone else does it. And, it does look like this was the time for Democrats to win!
I salute the brave men and women who stepped out. Whatever guided them—whether it was courage, faith, love, or blind ambition—
they stood up, got out, and did what they needed to do.
And they walked away with victories on November 3.
I don’t think for a moment that it was easy.
I heard the first-time political candidate, Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III talking about how it was not easy.
I guess what made his job easier on the campaign trail was having a footprint, a résumé, and receipts.
Although elective office may not have been in his plans, I have seen him in the community, streets, classrooms, boardrooms, pulpits, and community meetings; locally, and across the country.
So when people said “he’s new on the scene” because its his first election, I beg to differ. I can vouch for at least four and a half decades of him being on and true to the scene.
I guess he was so true that when it came time to vote only about 15% of the actual voters cast their votes elsewhere.
So as we get ready for the celebrations, and there are many to celebrate, we must also get to work.
I’m talking about all of us because the war is not won with just one battle.
That is the message to anyone getting ready for the next election.
To those victorious candidates – congrats.
To those sitting in office and will be on the ballot next time – are you ready? Have you worked for others so they will work for you?
To those looking to make moves in the future – are you getting prepared to get ready?
We’re living in a messed-up error. Era or Error, we should all want it to end in 2028.
Let’s get busy and do what we have to do.
No time for long explanations, apologies, or excuses!
The next battle is around the corner!
