DALLAS, TX, — The Walls Project—an organization committed to revitalizing underused spaces through volunteerism, public art and community cleanups, proudly announces plans for its Earth Day Festival of Service 2026, coming up on Saturday, April 18, from 9am to 2pm in Mill City, South Dallas.

Powered by 200+ community partners, this full-day experience will engage thousands of area youth, students, educators, families, and community volunteers through hands-on environmental education, agroforestry, public art initiatives, neighborhood beautification efforts, and community stewardship activities. These projects are designed to last—expanding canopy coverage, access to fresh food, activating public space, and building pride in place.

The Earth Day Festival of Service 2026 is part of The Walls Project’s Reactivation Program and reflects a long-term commitment to youth ownership, environmental literacy, and civic participation. By blending education, placemaking, and climate resilience, the initiative creates tangible community assets, while cultivating the next generation of environmental leaders.

The day-long festival will include:

  • Complimentary food for all attendees provided by Sprouts (until supplies run out)
  • Green Workforce + Youth Workshop at the Juanita Craft Center, presented by Texas Trees Foundation
  • Free Tree Giveaway (available for all South Dallas residents, businesses and nonprofits)
  • New Mural Installation at Mill City Teaching Farm
  • Neighborhood Cleanups
  • Live Entertainment & DJ
  • Kid Zone
  • Vendors & Resource Partners
  • Corporate Kickball Festival; and
  • A Senior Healthy Living Loop featuring wellness experiences for seniors and fresh fruit giveaways

SENIORS SERVING SENIORS INITIATIVE

One of the newest additions to the Earth Day Festival of Service line-up is the Seniors Serving Seniors initiative. Rival football seniors from Lincoln High School, James Madison High School, and South Oak Cliff High School, will band together to distribute fresh produce for the elders in South Dallas.

“Seniors Serving Seniors is a simple but powerful idea—bring student athletes together to serve the elders of their community and, in doing so, reshape how they see one another,” said Paul Franklin, Head of Dallas Community Outreach for The Walls Project. “More than a community service effort, this initiative is a proactive approach to reducing senseless violence. When students serve side by side, they form real relationships that follow them beyond the program. The next time they encounter one another, they don’t see an enemy, they see someone they’ve worked with, laughed with, and stood beside in service.”

TEXAS TREES FOUNDATION FREE TREE GIVEAWAY

In partnership with the Texas Trees Foundation, The Walls Project is bringing more shade, cleaner air, and greener blocks to the neighborhood. Free trees are available for all South Dallas residents, business and nonprofits, until supplies run out

Registration is currently open for volunteers who wish to participate in the Earth Day Festival of Service 2026. More information and details can be found by visiting ReactivateDallas.com

The Walls Project extends sincere thanks to all volunteers, partners, and sponsors who are making the Earth Day Festival of Service possible and to major sponsors Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation, McKesson Foundation, Texas Trees Foundation, The Moozie Foundation, Ryan Foundation, Atmos Energy, and Dallas Tourism Public Improvement District, for their leadership and commitment to community-driven change.

Together, the Earth Day Festival of Service is more than just another ordinary day of service. It is a reminder that building a more vibrant community happens when neighbors come together, roll up their sleeves, and continue the work.
