OBIT: ROSIE FRANKLIN

Rosie Franklin, a vibrant soul born on March 23, 1959, in Shreveport, Louisiana, departed this world on March 4, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, leaving behind an indelible mark on all who had the honor of crossing her path. Rosie was not just a name; she embodied strength, spontaneity, and clarity in a world often muddled with uncertainty. She was known for her straightforward, feisty, and outspoken personality—qualities that drew many to her like moths to a flame.

The essence of Rosie’s life matched the beauty of her beloved flower garden, always blossoming and renewing each season. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, whether it was engaging in spirited political discussions while watching CNN, dancing with sheer delight, or capturing cherished moments through her camera lens. Family time held a special place in Rosie’s heart, and the laughter and love shared with them were among her proudest accomplishments, alongside her deep sense of pride in being a homeowner.

Rosie is survived by her doting daughters, Keidral Smith and Latasha Smith Cain, and her son, Kenneth Franklin. As a mother, she was a guiding light and a staunch supporter, regardless of the challenge. The warmth of her love will continue through her seven grandchildren, who were, undoubtedly, her treasures. She leaves behind her beloved mother, Cassile Smith, alongside her siblings: sisters Mary Jackson and Lucille Jeffries; and brothers Jessie Smith, Jr., Henry Smith, Johnny Smith, and Ronald Smith. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit, which will forever resonate through their stories and memories.

Rosie’s legacy also honors the memory of her father, Jessie Smith, Sr., and her brother, Donald Smith, who have crossed into eternity before her. Their lives, intertwined with Rosie’s, will always remain a part of the rich tapestry of her journey.

A heartfelt Viewing will be held on March 13, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, TX. Following this, a Prayer Service will commence at 6:00 PM and conclude at 7:00 PM at the same location. Rosie’s Funeral Service will be held the following day, March 14, 11:00 AM  , where those who loved her will gather to honor and celebrate a life so beautifully lived.

As we remember Rosie Franklin, let us carry forward the lessons of her candid spirit and her embrace of life with grace. She was a beacon of joy, strength, and organization, each attribute a testament to the lively spirit with which she approached each day.
