Jonnie Lee German, Jr

Jonnie Lee German Jr. was born on May 17, 1953, to the late Jonnie and Rosie German and his stepmother Leanna German in East St. Louis, Illinois. He began his educational journey at Lincoln High School (East St. Louis, IL) and Lincoln University (Jefferson City, MO), graduating from Bishop College in Dallas, TX, in 1977.

Jonnie’s life was characterized by his compassionate nature, warm spirit, and unwavering faith. His spiritual journey began early when he embraced Christ and continued throughout his life, especially as he became a cherished member of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, TX.

On February 6, 2003, Jonnie married Rochelle Walker, the love of his life. He was a devoted husband, nurturing father, dedicated grandfather, and a loving family man whose commitment to his loved ones was steadfast.

Jonnie dedicated 32 years to Dallas ISD, where his hard work and perseverance left a lasting impact on colleagues and students alike. His legacy of dedication and excellence will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He later served the city of Dallas, TX, for 7 years with D.A.R.T., continuing his commitment to public service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonnie and Rosie German; his stepmother, Leanna German; and his brother, Perry German Sr.

Jonnie leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of his children: Melonie German, Jonnie L. German III (Tara), Jasmine Hood (Eric Hood II), and Oliver Johnson II. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Eric Hood III and Ashton Cephas, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

Jonnie is also survived by his siblings: Jerry German (Sandra E. German), Terry German, Sandra Morgan Cox (TC), and Timothy German Sr., along with a loving extended family and numerous friends.

Jonnie Lee German Jr. will be remembered for his love, laughter, and integrity, which made an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever be cherished by his family and all whose lives he touched.
