The Barbara Jordan Public Service Award is given

On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson received the Barbara Jordan Public Service Award, which represents Barbara Jordan’s voice, legacy and unwavering commitment to building community through activism and public service. Award recipients have a proven track record of advancing civic virtue and social justice and seek to improve the quality of democracy, governance and civic engagement across the world. The event took place in the LBJ Presidential Library in Austin. 

The Barbara Jordan Public Service Award is given in February during the Annual Barbara Jordan National Forum, a student led series hosted by the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. The recipient of the Barbara Jordan Public Service Award is selected by student leaders of the Forum.
