Born in El Campo, Texas, Kermit lived a life marked by service, dedication, and a steadfast commitment to his faith, family, and community.
Kermit’s academic journey was marked by exceptional achievement. He graduated as valedictorian from high school and went on to graduate from Prairie View A&M University, where he majored in Pre-Med and minored in Biology. His pursuit of excellence continued with the attainment of two master’s degrees, underscoring his lifelong commitment to education and personal growth.
Kermit enjoyed a remarkable 37-year career with Charleton Methodist Hospital, where he served with distinction in the Clinical Laboratory. His professionalism, expertise, and unwavering dedication made a significant impact on countless lives throughout his tenure.
A retired Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Army, Kermit served his country with honor. His military career included active service in the Gulf War and an important role in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (R.O.T.C.). His rank and service reflect a lifetime of sacrifice and leadership.
Kermit’s spirit extended beyond his professional accomplishments. He was a man of varied interests and strong community ties. He loved to travel and enjoyed dining out, embracing life’s pleasures whenever possible. A talented athlete in his youth, he played all sports during high school, demonstrating his competitive and team-oriented nature.
His devotion to faith was evident through his long-standing membership in the International Bible Study Fellowship. Kermit was a faithful deacon, treasurer, and trustee for Chapel Hill Free Will Baptist Church for over five decades, a testament to his unwavering spiritual commitment. Additionally, he was a proud member of the Dory Miller VFW Post #1406, reflecting his lifelong connection to veterans and service members.
