When Oil Meets Fire

Sarah’s Oil movie sheds reminiscent light

If “Holding onto what’s mine” was a movie, Sarah’s Oil is it! Back door deals and attempted theft can never steal what’s right by the soul. This historic account of Sarah Rector’s teenage wealth journey is an unfortunate reminder of the lengths people go for greed and power.

Naya Desir Johnson plays Sarah. She embodies the role with fire, possibly at the same level of blaze in passion it took the real young girl to realize her fortune at 11 years old.
This film doesn’t shy away from the crooked side of business. Its underlying theme of trickery and theft, even at the hands of adults taking advantage of children, is on screen for all to see.
Sarah’s Oil not only teaches us the story of African American child millionaire Sarah Rector, it teaches us the fortitude it takes for a family to stand up and hold each other close on the road to riches.
