When Maroon 9 Community Enrichment Organization lost its recently awarded Challenge America Grant from the National Endowment of the Arts, their season and program was in limbo. Funds had already been allocated and spent, but with the grant rescinded, the future of the program was bleak. That was until another theater teaching artist shared ShaVonne Davis’ story with her followers. In just a few days, donors have fully funded the summer program and donations are trending toward funding the year’s programs and productions.
I want to share this good news or altruism with your audience and inspire the public to get involved when pivotal programs are endangered by changing attitudes towards arts programs and DEI initiatives. Davis is also seeking funding in order to locate a rehearsal space and performance venue for their productions. As donations continue to pour in, Davis has a brighter prospectus for the future of her program.
Mrs. Davis has already shared her story with a few outlets and is available in-person or virtually to talk about how this kindness has impacted her and the students in her Page to Stage Literacy Program. I have attached the initial press release and follow up press release for your review. Please let me know when you share this story with your audience. I can be reached at this email or by phone at 682.246.6951.
